Job Title: Welfare Manager

Location: Kaplan International Junior Centers

Duration of contract: 23/06/10 – 01/08/10 with a possible extension to 14/08/10

Working hours: 48 hours per week

Job description:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for group leaders and parents to welfare and health issues in conjunction with Heads of House
  • Ensuring that any sick students are appropriately cared for
  • Being the contact person for all staff with regards to welfare issues and provide appropriate support and advice.
  • Keeping and maintaining medical information and permission for treatment files.
  • Contacting the Doctor, arranging and accompanying students and leaders to appointment or A and E visits.

You’ll also be required to:

  • Ensure the safety and smooth running of your designated house
  • Give a warm welcome to students on arrival and provide induction e.g. tour of the house and campus
  • Ensure that staff understand their responsibilities e.g. weekly staffing rotas and clear instructions.
  • Work with the Management team to strengthen staff morale
  • Manage the collection of laundry in conjunction with the Site Manager
  • Conduct fire drills regularly & ensure all staff and students are aware of the procedures.
  • Hold house briefings to ensure that that staff are provided with sufficient information to act independently when faced with minor issues.

Accommodation

Staff choosing to work on the Residential course may be required to live on site and if so, you’ll be sharing a comfortable twin room with a colleague. If you do share a room, we’ll give you an extra £25 per week. If you choose to work on the Homestay course accommodation can be arranged for you on request.

Salary
£392.00 per week

You will also be entitled to 0.6 days paid holiday per week worked which may be taken at the end of the working period and during the contract in exceptional circumstances only. Over a 4-week contract this gives you 2.4 days paid leave and over a 6-week contract, 3.6 days paid leave.
